2 New Things

Margaux seems to really be picking up speed at the army crawling.  She’s all over the place in seconds.  I’ve seen her take a few “steps” of real crawling but then decide the army version is better and go back to that.  Yesterday a few things happened I wanted to be sure I remembered:

  1. I found Margaux eating cat food.  This happened in the 20 seconds I was washing bottles.  At this moment I am just happy I buy that really expensive high quality cat food.  ;-)
  2. Margaux was going down for a nap and often I’ll go in and give her the paci she spits out at nap time.  This might recur a few times.  Once I went in and was patting all around her looking for the paci and she started laughing & laughing.  Big belly laughs. And every time I would start asking her where it was and looking again she just would laugh away which of course made me laugh. I didn’t find it so I just went and got a new one. Then Brad went in to check on her and watched her take the paci and dump it over the side of the crib. When she saw him she started laughing again. So apparently the games have begun!

That girl is just so fun. She’s so happy and sweet. We are really lucky parents! :-D

Army Crawling

She’s on the move!  Fast!

Overdue photos!

Oh wow time flies! Margaux has started army crawling!  She definitely has forward motion down pat – and fast!  She rocks on all fours constantly too.  She’s just a blast!  She’s a BIG girl too.  Officially in 12 month clothes and still has her big chunky thighs.  So cute!

And I’ve finally uploaded a few photos!  Here is a fav after M rubbed lentils all over her face:

Margaux LOVES Cricket – it may not be apparent in this photo but Cricket had just licked M and she LOVES her!

Anniversary Weekend

Today Brad & I celebrate our 7th anniversary – WOW!  7 years of married life fly by.  Amazing – and amazing how life changes!!!  :)

Friday we celebrated and Brad had wonderful & amazing surprises up his sleeve.  An amazing dinner at The Fifth Floor – WOW!  Really phenomenal restaurant!  Afterward we went to Wicked – WOW!  What a show!  Not as good as the book IMO but still amazing.  And Brad scores MAJOR points for remembering I wanted to see Wicked & booking Fifth Floor.  Great work!

Saturday we took Brad to the airport which was fine.  However we left and M must have noticed he was gone and just broke down.  A crying session -poor girl.  We got home, calmed her down and she napped.  In the afternoon we visited our local parks so she could swing and play.  It was a nice afternoon!

Sunday Margaux and I had a quiet morning then headed to Rockridge to visit Tyson, Jeff, & Tanner.  FUN FUN FUN!  Margaux and Tanner are awfully cute with each other – they totally stared each other down. Is that baby flirting? ;-)   Tanner also shared dinner with Margaux and she stole veggie puffs from his high chair tray.  Good girl on eating veggie puffs!  Also Tyson has the sweetest dog Cricket.  Cricket was so sweet with M and licked her face and nuzzled her.  Sweet safe doggie.  Margaux would scrunch her face up in anticipation of the doggie tongue then when he started licking she would laugh & laugh.  SOOOO cute!  Brad – this is why I need an iPhone 3G-S so I can get video ANYWHERE!  ;-)

Monday Margaux and I went for a long walk with Tyson & Tanner then ran a few errands.  Really nice day off for everyone!

On developmental stuff, Margaux is so close to crawling.  This phase is long I guess – the practicing I mean.  She is up all the time on all fours and practicing at night.  Whew.  Ana said she gets frustrated when she can’t crawl sometimes.  I really need to baby proof!

Speaking of Ana – she is just as wonderful as always!  She is coming early to help me today & Thursday while Brad is gone.  When she arrived today M just started beaming!  I LOVE that Margaux is so fond of & happy with Ana – it makes me so comfortable to leave them together knowing Ana is really taking good care of her.  We feel so incredibly lucky to have found Ana!

Photos soon – oh wait do I say that often?  Just know I mean it – at some point soon there will be new photos! ;-)

Wanting to crawl

Several nights this week Brad has gone to check on Margaux and found her on all fours rocking in the crib. When he turns her back over she is completely asleep!

I have read that they practice things developmentally in their sleep so at least we weren’t shocked when she started doing this but it makes me think the crawling is just about to take off. She does practice getting on all fours during the day too but its the night time instances that I find so interesting!

I have some fun photos I need to upload soon. Hopefully this weekend but with Brad heading to Poland for a week, I’m just not sure.

Fly By Update

Its amazing how busy life gets and I forget to come post updates. Its a bummer because I know that Marguax does little things I will forget but time keeps on marching.

Margaux is really such a joy! She is such an angel & just a bundle of fun. I love seeing her learn or figure out something new then look over at me with a big smile of accomplishment. Its just the best!

The week of August 11 my parents were in San Francisco. My dad came in for a meeting so my mom tagged along. It was wonderful timing because Brad ended up going to Bogota, Columbia for a business trip. Having Mimi around to help was fantastic! Margaux sure loved it too. I have photos at home so I’ll try to get some online soon.

The big news right now is Margaux is up on all fours! She looks anxious to put crawling to the test. My prediction is that once she figures out forward motion, we are in trouble. The little one already gets around everywhere schooching backwards and turning around in circles. Forward motion is going to be tempting I predict! ;-)

This past weekend we had new friends over as well. Tyson & Brad went to SMU together – small world! She & her hubby & their 10-almost-11 month old all relocated up to the bay area a few months ago. Its so fun to have new friends around and we had a great time hanging out. After some quality play time, the babies both went down pretty easily & we got to have a leisurely dinner. Fun stuff!

Oh in the stuff updates – Margaux’s infant bucket car seat has been retired. No sadness here! That thing (while convienent & very safe) was heavy & awkward to carry around. She fits so much better in her big girl car seat – as you can see! We also finally got a nice small lightweight stroller (Maclaren) which she seems super comfy in as well. Amazing how fast they grow!!

6-Month Ped Visit

Margaux is officially a big girl! She weighs 18 lbs 6 oz & is 27″ long – 90% for both!

She had 3 shots – one of which was the first flu vaccine shot. She has to have 2 of those. Unfortunately I think she reacted a little bit to the flu vaccine shot and got a fever the nigh of her appt. Then she was a little sick the day after. But she’s back to her normal self now and a happy sweet girl! :-)

Stroller Days

I’ve been told that today was the end of Margaux riding in her BOB stroller in her car seat.  Ana tried to load her up and M was having none of that lounging in her car seat going for a walk.  Brad told her it would be fine to put her in the BOB seat as I have taken her out that way before.  Ana put her in facing forward and a very happy Margaux & Ana headed out for their walk.  She’s got preferences now and she’s letting us know!  :-)

We call Margaux our little pterodactyl.  She squawks and chirps just like we imagine a dinosaur would have.  ;-)   She has definitely found her voice and likes to use it.  I think its pretty cute personally.

So far she has eaten such a good variety of foods as well:

  • rice cereal
  • avocado
  • sweet potato
  • banana
  • peach
  • apple
  • carrot
  • zucchini

She’s done such a good job with everything!  She wasn’t huge into sweet potatoes but seems to like everything else OK.

Here is a photo of Margaux from this past weekend in Fairplay with David & JP:

Oh, and BTW, Margaux loves to stand:

Avocado

Brad was home with Margaux today while I had to work.  I needed to switch work days to accomodate a board member meeting (that went great!).  Ana is busy on Wednesdays though so it was just B & M.  They did quite well!  When I got home I took her for a walk so she could nap a little.  Little being the key word there.

And today we introduced food #2: avocado.  She LOVED it!  Like mother, like daughter.  I think she would have eaten a whole second bowl, but we stopped at one. (serving was about 1 T of avocado + 3 T of BM)

Today we also tried out her new inflatable bath tub.  She was not only getting too big for her infant tub, but she also just didn’t like laying down for a bath.  So now she has a small blow up tub and she really liked sitting in it and taking her bath!  Watch out – it won’t be long before the splashing starts. :-)

Quick update

I haven’t had much time to come update this blog recently which is too bad b/c Margaux is busy learning new tricks and getting cuter every day!  Here are the big things in summary recently:

  • sitting up, started doing this about 2 weeks ago.  she loves to sit and play with her toys and can really entertain herself now.  she’s very stable and does a great job!  she doesn’t know how to get into sitting position yet, but if you put her there she is set.
  • started solids! what a big girl now.  she started on Earth’s Best rice cereal on Friday (July 10).  She actually really likes it and loves to sit in her high chair and play with her spoon too.
  • trying to introduce the sippy cup – she’s not sold on this yet.  she makes a face whenever she tastes the water but she loves to chew on the spout (we are trying a Born Free brand cup).
  • had her first cold – this was really sad.  She is recovered with the exception of a small amount of congestion still lingering, but I got her cold and have been having a really rough go.  I haven’t been getting much sleep so getting rid of this cough and gunk has been tough.
  • speaking of sleep, she’s not doing quite as well as she once did.  this is one of the primary reasons we started solids at just over 5 months of age.  hopefully as her little digestive track settles into the solids she’ll be able to start sleeping thru the WHOLE night again.

For me, work has been going really well.  I love my schedule and the new company has been really wonderful.  Plus we got amazingly lucky and Ana (Margaux’s nanny) is an absolute gem.  She is so fantastic with Margaux!  Brad gets to witness it first hand and raves about their interactions.  All of that makes me very happy of course!

Here is one of my favorite little family photos from Santa Cruz.  I will try to come post a few more.  We just love Alex Johnson – photographer extraordinaire!! :-)
