The sweetest things

I’m so behind updating here. I want to do it more b/c I’m sure I’ll forget so many little things. So speaking of little things, Margaux walked without thinking about it today! She was playing by the couch, grabbed her stuffed piggie, and walked over to her little chair. It was a good 5 or so steps of just walking! No coaxing, no holding my hands out, just her doing what came natural. So cool!

Also on Sunday or Monday when I put her down, I was leaving her room and I *swear* she said “Night night Mama”. Swoon, makes you heart happy!

So back tracking a little, M had her 1-yr appt on Feb 10. She weighed in at 23lb 14 oz (90%) and 30″ (85%). She got a bunch of shots which wasn’t so fun. Then a few days later we had to get her blood drawn for the lead & anemia test. That was AWFUL. It wasn’t the blood draw that was so bad, it was the techs trying to hold her arm out, me trying to keep her still, etc. She was NOT happy, sobbing & upset. Poor thing.

We have a great movie I need to edit and hope to post soon! Its fun, I promise you’ll enjoy this trip to the mailbox.

End of 2009

Margaux’s first calendar year is coming to a close. Its been a fun & exciting year, including milestones, smiles, & laughs.

And here, on the last day of the year, Margaux mastered her walker AND stood alone for the first time!  She loves to tote around this elephant the Utley family gave her for Christmas.

Enjoy these end of the year grins and we’ll be trying to update a LOT more in the new year.

Quick update

I haven’t had much time to come update this blog recently which is too bad b/c Margaux is busy learning new tricks and getting cuter every day!  Here are the big things in summary recently:

  • sitting up, started doing this about 2 weeks ago.  she loves to sit and play with her toys and can really entertain herself now.  she’s very stable and does a great job!  she doesn’t know how to get into sitting position yet, but if you put her there she is set.
  • started solids! what a big girl now.  she started on Earth’s Best rice cereal on Friday (July 10).  She actually really likes it and loves to sit in her high chair and play with her spoon too.
  • trying to introduce the sippy cup – she’s not sold on this yet.  she makes a face whenever she tastes the water but she loves to chew on the spout (we are trying a Born Free brand cup).
  • had her first cold – this was really sad.  She is recovered with the exception of a small amount of congestion still lingering, but I got her cold and have been having a really rough go.  I haven’t been getting much sleep so getting rid of this cough and gunk has been tough.
  • speaking of sleep, she’s not doing quite as well as she once did.  this is one of the primary reasons we started solids at just over 5 months of age.  hopefully as her little digestive track settles into the solids she’ll be able to start sleeping thru the WHOLE night again.

For me, work has been going really well.  I love my schedule and the new company has been really wonderful.  Plus we got amazingly lucky and Ana (Margaux’s nanny) is an absolute gem.  She is so fantastic with Margaux!  Brad gets to witness it first hand and raves about their interactions.  All of that makes me very happy of course!

Here is one of my favorite little family photos from Santa Cruz.  I will try to come post a few more.  We just love Alex Johnson – photographer extraordinaire!! :-)

Starting Solids

We started Margaux on rice cereal today. She really loved it & did a great job swallowing. Here is an iPhone photo. Video & more photos to follow. :-)

Margaux Drives

Well I have a million things to post about!  First, Margaux is SITTING by herself!  Yes we are amazed by this little one!  :-)

However today I had to post about Margaux driving around in her first little car.  Photos from Ana – Margaux’s amazing nanny!

Roley Poley

As I spend my first day back at work on my new job, Margaux is showing off for Brad at home by rolling from her back to her front! She’s been going half-way from her back onto her side for a while so we knew it was coming. Can’t wait see her do it myself!

Rolling Over

Uh oh!  Baby proofing here we come – we have take off!  Margaux surprised me today during tummy time by rolling over!  Not just once, but a second time I was able to catch on video!  I cheered so much she gave me looks like I was a fruit loop, but I am so excited to see her go!  Watching her develop is just so neat!  Here you go…
